Welcome To The Nevada Hospital Association

We are a not-for-profit, statewide, professional association, representing the vast majority of Nevada's hospitals, and other health-related agencies and organizations throughout the state. Formally established in 1960 and incorporated in 1971, NHA was created by hospital administrators to provide a unified forum for all types of hospitals to address such issues as reimbursement, worker's compensation, professional liability and continuing education, among others.

Over time, the emergence of major issues such as marketplace health care, restrictive government payment policies, inadequate funding for indigent care, and manpower shortages, among others, have continued to pose formidable challenges to the health care system. The need for collaboration and cooperation among stakeholders, for solid leadership, and for continuous, vigorous advocacy, cannot be overstated.

A Voice

The Nevada Hospital Association (NHA) is a voice for Nevada's health care industry, and works closely with other professional associations in representing the health care sector to the public.

The Association maintains a dialogue with federal, state and local agencies to advise, shape and recommend changes to current laws and regulations.

A Resource

NHA is a valuable resource of information to our members, including the annual salary survey, state data collection and reporting, quality and patient safety, disaster preparedness, workforce issues, and an online career center. NHA's health care data Web site provides an unprecedented degree of easy-to-access and understandable information on hospital quality, performance, and pricing. You will also find useful publications on our web store, such as the Legislative Summary, HIPAA Consent Manual, EMTALA Manual and UB-04 Manual.

An Advocate

While the Nevada Legislature meets only every other year, NHA provides "every year" monitoring of legislative committees and other activities.

During the session, NHA is present at the Nevada Legislature on a daily basis to oversee health care legislation. NHA also maintains close contact with the Nevada congressional delegation in Washington, D.C., to share members' concerns and views.

A Facilitator

NHA's constituency is diverse yet comprehensive. Hospitals from urban and rural communities, specialty and governmental hospitals, and other health-related delivery and support organizations comprise a membership representing every sector of the health care industry. Through various committees, NHA facilitates the collaborative process on issues of common interest.

An Education Proponent

NHA offers timely educational workshops, conferences and webinars to keep its members on top of industry developments. Programs range from small, topic specific workshops and continuing education courses to the annual membership meeting and the Western Regional Trustee's Symposium. Public Relations

NHA helps the general public and news media understand the ever-changing health care environment through news releases, media briefings, and public responses to statewide and national health care developments.

Members are kept up to date through a monthly e-newsletter and other communications.
